The Moto2™ race at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas brought victory for Maverick Viñales (Pons HP 40) in just his second appearance in the intermediate class, with Esteve Rabat (Marc VDS Racing Team) second and Dominique Aegerter (Technomag carXpert) third.

Moto3™ World Champion Viñales rode brilliantly from sixth on the grid, holding his nerve in an incident-packed ‘dry race’ which was slightly delayed by rain in Texas, the Spaniard eventually crossing the line four seconds ahead of Rabat.
Aegerter took the final podium spot a further three seconds back with Xavier Simeon (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) crashing out of the rostrum hunt at the end of the penultimate lap having earlier led the race.
There was chaos at the first corner when the race got underway as a crash hindered the race of many riders, with Josh Herrin (AirAsia Caterham Moto Racing), Mattia Pasini (NGM Forward Racing), Axel Pons (AGR Team), Nico Terol (Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2), Sam Lowes (Speed Up) and Luis Salom (Pons HP 40) all involved. Of that group only Herrin, Terol and Salom were unable to finish the race and all riders were ok.
Johann Zarco (AirAsia Caterham Moto Racing) crashed out on lap two taking Julian Simon (Italtrans Racing Team) with him, though the latter remounted to finish 23^rd. There were crashes too for Louis Rossi (SAG Team), Lorenzo Baldassarri (Gresini Moto2) and Jonas Folger (AGR Team), though they too escaped injury.
Behind the front three Mika Kallio Marc (VDS Racing Team) missed the podium by just over a second, whilst Simone Corsi (NGM Forward Racing) also made the top five.
Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2), Anthony West (QMMF Racing Team), Alex De Angelis (Tasca Racing Moto2) and Tech 3 pair Marcel Schrotter and Ricard Cardus completed the top ten.

Having tested alongside current MotoGP™ teams at circuits such as Aragon, Brno, Catalunya and Sepang in the past 12 months, Suzuki want to further their development at the Austin track and also plan to test at the new Termas de Río Hondo track in Argentina in a fortnight’s time. During the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, Suzuki MotoGP Test Team Manager Davide Brivio told motogp.com that upgrades to their in-house developed electronics software are a key focus for the test as they adapt to the latest standard championship ECU hardware. Brivio stated, “Electronics in one of the main items we will work on because we started in Sepang with the Magneti Marelli electronics but it was not ready yet. Despite that we decided to start the development. So here in Austin we will have a new update, a new release of the software, because in the mean time we have been working on that in Japan.” He added, “Another target of this test is for us to get to know this track and to collect data for next year, because as Suzuki we have never been here. Rossi had a brilliant start to the 2014 season, starting from tenth on the grid, the Italian battled through the field to fight Marc Marquez for victory in Qatar. In the end he was second by just 0.259s and now he aims to maintain his return to competitiveness by improving on last year’s showing at COTA. “I really want to go to Austin, especially after the first race in Qatar,” says the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP man. “The season started well but now we need confirmation. Last year I made one of the worst races of the season in Texas, and this year I want to see if we can be competitive everywhere.” “Getting a good result in Austin would mean a lot for me and for Yamaha. It would mean that the direction taken is the right one. We will try to do our best to be competitive also on the Austin circuit. I'd like to have fun like I did in Qatar.” For Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo, meanwhile, it has been a challenging start to his 2014 campaign. The Spaniard led the pack at Qatar after one of his typically fast starts, but unfortunately crashed out of the race on the first lap. This weekend he sets out to reach the podium in Texas, where he took third position last year. “After a very disappointing race result in Qatar I look forward to racing at Austin to try to get a good result and forget as soon as possible all the things that happened in Losail,” comments Lorenzo. “COTA was not one of the best tracks for us last year. We had some difficulties to adapt our bike to the layout and lack of grip but finally we found out how to manage for the race. In the end we got a good result and we finished only three seconds behind the winner. Hasil GP Americas: Marc Marquez Sempurna, Rossi Meloyo, Lorenzo Curi Start

Marc Marquez menyempurnakan hasil gemilangnya sepanjang akhir pekan GP Americas di Austin dengan finis pertama pada balapan yang berlangsung Minggu (13/4/2014) siang waktu setempat (Senin dini hari WIB).
Marquez melakukan start dengan baik, membalap hampir sempurna sepanjang 21 putaran, dan meraih gelar keduanya di Austin. Jorge Lorenzo melakukan kesalahan sebelum balapan dimulai. Pebalap Movistar Yamaha ini melakukan jump start atau mencuri start.
Lorenzo memimpin pada putaran pertama dengan Marquez dan Dani Pedrosa menempel ketat di posisi kedua dan ketiga. Pada akhir putaran pertama Lorenzo menjalani penaltinya, membalap lewat pit lane, yang tentu saja jadi kerugian besar bagi juara dunia dua kali tersebut.
Di depan, Marquez dan Pedrosa seperti membalap sendiri. Keduanya melaju cepat tanpa ada pebalap lain yang mampu mengimbangi kecepatan mereka. Persaingan di tempat ketiga berjalan menarik. Andrea Iannone yang melesat ke posisi ketiga, terus mendapat tekanan dari Valentino Rossi dan Stefan Bradl.
Pada akhir putaran ketujuh, Rossi sempat melewati Iannone, tetapi hanya untuk sesaat. Iannone bahkan berhasil melesat menjauh. Rossi tak bisa bertahan. Pada putaran ke-10, Bradl berhasil melewatinya untuk mendapatkan tempat keempat.
Tak sampai satu putaran berikutnya, Rossi merosot ke posisi keenam setelah terlewati Andrea Dovizioso. Selanjutnya Rossi harus bertahan dari serangan dua pebalap Yamaha Tech3, Pol Espargaro dan Bradley Smith.
Pada awal putaran ke-12, Rossi harus melepas posisinya setelah Espargaro dan Smith berhasil melewatinya. Rossi berada di urutan kedelapan. Cal Crutchlow harus mengakhiri balapannya setelah terjatuh di tikungan dua saat balapan tersisa sembilan putaran. Sebelumnya, pebalap Ducati ini sempat masuk pit untuk mengganti ban belakang.
Bradl dan Dovizioso perlahan mulai mendekati Iannone. Mereka akhirnya melewati pebalap Pramac Racing tersebut pada putaran ke-16. Satu putaran berikutnya, Dovizioso melewati Bradl untuk mendapatkan tempat ketiga.
Marquez menyempurnakan catatan gemilangnya sepanjang akhir pekan ini dengan berhasil finis pertama. Seperti tahun lalu, Pedrosa menyusul finis kedua. Ini merupakan kali pertama musim 2014 di mana Honda berhasil finis satu-dua.
Dovizioso melengkapi podium di Austin dengan finis ketiga, disusul Bradl di tempat keempat dan Smith kelima.
Austin jadi mimpi buruk bagi Movistar Yamaha. Rossi akhirnya finis kedelapan, sementara Lorenzo kesepuluh.
